NORCAL Insurance Company and its affiliates (“NORCAL Group”, “we” or “us”) are committed to protecting the privacy of the individuals we encounter in conducting our business. This Privacy Notice for California Residents, which can be found at www.norcal-group.com/privacy/CA, supplements the information contained in NORCAL Group’s Privacy Policy, which can be found at www.norcal-group.com/privacy, and applies solely to visitors, users, and others who reside in the State of California (“consumers” or “you”). We adopt this Notice to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020, and their implementing regulations (collectively, "California law"). Any terms defined under California law have the same meaning when used in this Notice.
We collect information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer, household, or device (“personal information”). Personal information does not include:

You have the right to request that we disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information over the past 12 months. You have the right to request that we correct any inaccuracies in the personal information we hold about you. You have the right to request that we delete any of your personal information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request (see Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights), we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies.

Restrict Sensitive Personal Information Processing
California law grants consumers the right to restrict how a business uses and discloses their sensitive personal information, but only when such information is collected or processed for the purpose of inferring other characteristics about a consumer. NORCAL Group does not collect or process sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about a consumer.
Exercising Access, Data Portability, and Deletion Rights

Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.

We cannot respond to your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify, with a high degree of certainty, your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. If the request contains any deficiency, we will inform you of the deficiency and explain how to correct it.
Making a verifiable consumer request does not require you to create an account with us.
We will only use personal information provided in a verifiable consumer request to (a) verify the requestor’s identity or authority to make the request and (b) communicate with the requestor regarding the request.
Response Timing and Format
We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time, we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will confirm receipt of a consumer request within ten (10) business days of its receipt. When confirming receipt we will include a general description of our process for verifying that the person making the request to know or request to delete is actually the consumer he or she claims to be (or an authorized agent of that consumer) and when you should expect a response.

Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding our receipt of a verifiable consumer request. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your personal information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another entity without hindrance.
We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights under California law. Unless permitted by California law, we will not take any of the following actions in response to you exercising your rights:
However, we may offer you certain financial incentives permitted by California law that can result in different prices, rates, or quality levels. Any California law-permitted financial incentive we offer will reasonably relate to your personal information’s value and contain a “good faith estimate” of the value of your personal information that forms the basis for the incentive and describe the method that we used to make that calculation. Participation in a financial incentive program requires your prior opt-in consent, which you may revoke at any time.
RETENTION PERIOD
We retain personal information only for so long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period for your personal information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of your personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal information, the purposes for which we process your personal information, and the applicable legal requirements, including the statute of limitations periods.
We reserve the right to amend this Privacy Notice at our discretion and at any time. When we make changes to this Privacy Notice, we will post the updated Notice on our website and update the Notice’s effective date. Your continued use of our website following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
