Karen Frisella has been named the new Vice President of Claims for NORCAL Mutual, and joinsNORCAL Mutual’s senior management team, reporting directly to the chief executive officer. She takes the helm of the claims department from PaulGabel, who has announced his intention to retire at the end of the year. Frisella began her career at NORCAL Mutual in 1993 as a Claims Investigator and promoted several times, most recently to Associate Vice President in 2013. Throughout her 21 years atNORCAL, she worked closely with California physicians and groups, and has been involved in several company initiatives. Karen most recently led the national operations team for Claims and was actively involved in the development of the new policy that NORCAL Mutual is implementing across the country. “Karen’s background, experience and strong leadership will be great assets to our company and the senior management team, as we continue to integrate NORCAL Mutual and our subsidiary companies,” Scott Diener, president and chief executive officer of NORCAL Mutual said. Frisella has a degree in microbiology from University of California, Santa Barbara, and Executive MBA from St. Mary’s College.
