NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company’s Community Involvement Fund awarded $15,000 to five California organizations whose missions are to promote health, wellness and safety in their communities. The recipients, nominated by NORCAL Mutual’s medical society partners, are: Breast and GYN Health Program in Humboldt-Del Norte County, CruzMed Foundation in Santa Cruz County, Inland Wellness Information Network of San Bernardino County, Samaritan Center of Tulare County, and Shalom Free Clinic in Butte-Glenn County.
“Supporting the betterment of healthcare in our local communities is something we are very proud of and recognize its importance to our partners and policyholders,” said Joy Corso, NORCAL Mutual’s vice president of marketing and communications. “We have been a strong supporter of the California market for 40 years, and will continue to be an advocate to protect and promote the practice of good medicine.”
The five grant recipients are:
- Breast and GYN Health Project, nominated by Humboldt-Del Norte County Medical Society, received a $3,000 grant to support health education and patient navigation support for Latina clients and their families as they face cancer concerns.
- CruzMed Foundation, the charitable arm of Santa Cruz County Medical Society, received a $3,000 grant in support of the 5210+ Project, which aims to reduce the prevalence of obesity in Santa Cruz County through education and community partnerships.
- Inland Wellness Information Network, nominated by San Bernardino County Medical Society, received a $3,000 grant to support of its San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) program. The MRC provides additional medical professional support in emergency situations such as wildfires, floods, epidemics and other disasters.
- Samaritan Center of Tulare County, nominated by Tulare County Medical Society, received a $3,000 grant to support its free clinic which serves the working poor and uninsured of the community.
- Shalom Free Clinic, nominated by Butte-Glenn Medical Society, received a $3,000 grant to support the clinic’s mission to provide health screenings, primary care intervention, advocacy and education to underinsured and uninsured children, teens and adults.
The grant is given through the NORCAL Community Involvement Fund, funded by NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company, one of the largest providers of medical professional liability insurance in California. NORCAL Mutual has served the California medical community for 40 years.
