In 2013, the PIAA issued a comprehensive study of breast cancer claims, which revealed errors in diagnosis as the most common chief medical factor. The study also indicated that most patients who developed breast cancer were over age 50, but the majority of lawsuits were filed by patients under age 50, because the disease tends to be more aggressive in younger patients.
